Manorville FD Responds Structure Fire

On Thursday, July 13th @ 1613 Hours, Manorville FD was activated to respond to a reported structure fire. Chiefs 5-16-30 and 32 both responded and the county dispatch relayed reported basement fire with visible flames and smoke, all occupants are out of the house. Truck 5-16-6 was first on scene and confirmed a working basement fire and immediately pulled a hose line to the front door. Chief Danowski was 2nd on scene, followed by Chief Steel. Engine 5-16-7 and 5-16-2 where 2nd and 3rd due engines. Engine 7 hit the hydrant and stretched a line to ladder 6 to feed them with additional water. The crew of ladder 6 made a quick stop in the basement bedroom fire. The home owner advised the Chief's they have a pet snake in the basement. The crew from Engine 2 went into the basement to look for the snake and bring the snake out to safety. Crew from Engine 7 brought the fans to start venting the house. Tanker 9 brought additional crews from headquarters. 1st Assistant Chief Rosario arrived and went into the basement to oversee the overhaul progress. Manorville Fire Police secured the streets around the fire building to keep the scene safe. Manorville Ambulance arrived for the protection of the Manorville Firemen as needed. Chief Danowski called in the Shirley Ambulance rehab unit as it was a very hot and humid day. Mastic Fire Department was called for Mutual Aid for a RIT Team.
