Good to see the department is still growing. I have been in 4 different departments in 3 states and Manorville was the best. Some of the best Chief's came before me-Craig-Pat-Bobby. Best of luck in the future.
Thank you so much for your service and all you do for our community!

I enjoyed reading about the Fire Dept history. I was born in 1946, living in Manorville until I joined the Navy in 1965. I knew many of the founders, Iverson Becken was my grandfather, Clarence Carter was an uncle, Dennis Tascar took care of our family vehicles and Tommy Jamer was our mailman. Just to reflect on a few. These same men were the backbone of our community. I also remember my uncle Iverson "Popeye" Becken as a fireman and playing Santa as we had a Christmas party for kids at the firehouse. He died that evening in an automobile accident. I remember the firetruck covered with flowers at the Presbyterian Church at his funeral service. I remember our cub scouts and boy scouts participating in parades with the fire dept and I remember the fire dept. competitions. I remember the fires in the woods and my mother and others making sandwiches for the firefighters and the fighters who walked into the woods with backpacks of water to subdue the fire. The fire dept. has always been an important part of my growing up experience and while I have not lived there for many years, I will always remember the men who protected our homes and lives with their dedicated service. Thank you for these great memories
